THE CASE OF VAN BEEKUM SPECERIJEN

Van Beekum Specerijen is one of the Netherlands' best-known premium spice brands. Online they ran on Lightspeed since 2013, with a custom store built by our team in 2016 that served them for nine years through significant growth. By 2025, the relationship had outlasted the platform: Lightspeed had stopped keeping up with where Van Beekum was going, while the team they'd worked with from day one had grown into something bigger.

The brief was direct. Migrate to Shopify Plus, preserve everything (data, SEO, integrations, twelve years of customer history), and do it without disturbing the operation. The complexity wasn't just the data move. It was the twenty-three-tool integration stack layered on top of a backend that had grown alongside the brand for over a decade. Every tool a dependency. Every dependency a thing that needed to keep working from cutover onwards. They didn't shop the project around. We'd built the original store. They wanted the team that knew it to build the new one.

    Twelve years of Lightspeed data moved to Shopify Plus through Syncer. Products, customers, orders, discount codes, and full customer history preserved including records dating to 2013, deduplicated where the legacy data had drifted. SEO mapped through SEO Guard with full redirect coverage and zero ranking loss.

12 YEARS OF DATA AND SEO
This was a migration-led storebuild end-to-end. Twelve years of Lightspeed data to move, twenty-three integrations to map and rebuild, a custom storefront to design on Shopify Plus. The combination of long-tenure data and integration depth is what made this case more complex than the average Lightspeed-to-Plus move. Familiarity with the original setup helped, since our team had built it.
USING OUR SEO GUARD® TECHNOLOGY
A twelve-year-old store accumulates serious organic ranking equity: category pages, product pages, recipe content, blog archives, internal linking structure, schema markup. All tied to URL structures built in 2013. We ran the SEO migration through SEO Guard, with full redirect mapping, canonical preservation, and structured data rebuilt on the new platform. Indexed rankings the morning after launch matched indexed rankings the day before. Also after launch our SEO Guard Shopify app secures your store's SEO and improves it automatically with AI and manual handlings.
REPLATFORMING THE TECH STACK
The Lightspeed setup had grown into a twenty-three-tool stack over the years. ERP, email marketing, helpdesk, custom search infrastructure, affiliate networks, full analytics suite, Cloudflare security layer. All of it had to land on Shopify Plus or be rebuilt where the platform shift demanded it. Native Plus features replaced what they could. Partner integrations and Plus-native apps rebuilt the rest. None of it was hand-wave-able. Twelve years of operational dependency means twelve years of integration logic that has to keep working from cutover onwards.
